HEAT Produced: Halftime in the Eastern Conference Finals

The Eastern Conference Finals is tied at 2-2 because the Boston Celtics are winning the first half and the Miami HEAT are winning the second half, according to stats from the HEAT Produced Page.

The HEAT Produced Page was updated with all stats from the first four games of the Eastern Conference Finals and one thing is clear: the difference before and after halftime.

The HEAT produced an estimated 1.8 wins produced in the second halves of the first four games and the Celtics produced an estimated 1.9 wins produced in the first halves.

First Half
The least productive HEAT players in the first quarter have been Ronny Turiaf, Mike Miller and Joel Anthony (-0.1 est. wins produced each). Dwyane Wade has been the least productive HEAT player in the second quarter with -0.2 est. wins produced.

The spreadsheet below lists the stats for HEAT players in the 1st half.

Second Half
The most productive HEAT players in the third quarter have been Udonis Haslem, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. They've combined to produce an estimated 1.0 wins coming out the locker room after halftime. The most productive HEAT players in the fourth quarter have been Miller, LeBron and Wade with 0.2 est. wins produced each.

Coaches vs. Players
Are the coaches or the players to blame for the team's poor play in the first half?

Turiaf and Miller have been productive in the series but have only played 15 and 16 minutes in the first quarters. The Warden has been the least productive HEAT player in the Eastern Conference Finals so that's on the coaches.

Wade's struggles in the second quarter don't seem to be the coaches' fault, however. It's his responsibility to replicate whatever he's doing to be successful in the second halves of games in the second quarters, too.

Like Wade, the coaches should also be replicating their second half success in the in the first half. UD has only played 31 of his 97 minutes in the first halves of the Eastern Conference Finals. He's been the most productive HEAT player on a per-minute basis and is the second-most productive HEAT player in the series behind LeBron. The coaches need to play UD more minutes in the first half for the rest of the series since rebounding is one of the team's keys to success.
