Mario Chalmers: 2012 Season Review

Mario Chalmers top plays, performances, stats and splits from 2012 season.

Miami HEAT Index is reviewing each HEAT player's performance in the 2012 season, from the most productive to the least productive. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were reviewed first and second. The third review is Chalmers.

This analysis uses Estimated Wins Produced, a statistic created by sports economist David Berri. Since an average team's winning percentage is 0.500, an average player produces 0.100 est. wins per 48 minutes (est.WP48). A star player produces 0.200 est.WP48 and great players produce 0.300 est.WP48. See the HEAT Produced Page for more information on Est. Wins Produced.

Season Analysis
Chalmers finished 3rd on the HEAT with 5.8 est. wins produced in the 2012 regular season (0.153 est.WP48) from 55% shooting efficiency (3rd on HEAT), 79% free throw shooting, 3.7 turnovers, 2.6 steals and 0.3 blocks per 48 minutes.

Chalmers produced an estimated 14% of the HEAT's wins in the regular season in only 11% of the team's minutes. He produced 11% of the HEAT's wins in the playoffs (1.8 est. wins produced) in 15% of the team's minutes.

Top 10 Games

Surprisingly, Mario "Muthafuckin'" Chalmers' performance in Game 4 of the Finals was only his 13th most productive game last season.

His most productive game in the 2012 playoffs was the HEAT's Game 3 blowout of the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. 'Rio produced an est. 0.3 wins over 39.8 minutes (0.367 est.WP48) in Game 3 from 19 points on 86% shooting efficiency, 7 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 3 steals and 2 fouls. Game 3 vs. the Knicks, however, was only Chalmers' 2nd most productive game from last season.

'Rio's most productive game came on March 16th in Philadelphia against the 76ers when the HEAT raced out to a 57-30 lead at the half but had to hold on in the 2nd half to escape with a 6-point win. Chalmers only totaled 10 points on 83% shooting efficiency with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 turnovers, 1 steal and 3 fouls, but he produced an est. 0.3 wins in 31.8 minutes (0.460 est.WP48) by holding Jrue Holiday to 7 points on 22% shooting efficiency in 27 minutes. Chalmers' 5th most productive game of the season was also against the 76ers on 1/21/2012.

The HEAT were 9-1 in Chalmers' 10 most productive games last season. The only loss came in Game 3 against the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers and Hawks joined the 76ers as teams that appeared on Chalmers' top 10 hit list more than once.

The spreadsheet below lists Chalmers' production in every game from last season, sorted by est. wins produced.
