Are LeBron James' leg cramps a crack in his armor or will his legendary durability continue this season?
For the second time in 4 months, LeBron had to leave a game in the 4th quarter with leg cramps. Is this an indication of future injuries?
LeBron has played more than 90% of the games in every regular season of his career.
At some point, injuries catch up to every player. Will this be the season they catch up to LeBron? He's played more than 90% of the games in 9 regular seasons. Only 11 all-stars in NBA history have played 75+ games for 10 seasons or more: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, John Havlicek, Elvin Hayes, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Tim Duncan, Patrick Ewing, Kevin Garnett, John Stockton and Isiah Thomas.
All those players are physical freaks of nature just like LeBron. Whether he'll be as durable as them remains to be seen, especially after playing a lockout-shortened season and the Olympics. The HEAT should still be the #1 seed in the East if LeBron goes down for an extended amount of time with injury, but they will need him healthy to win 16 games in the playoffs.
LeBron said he wanted to be the best player of all-time. Well, durability is a big part of that. We'll see if LeBron can maintain his legendary durability this season to join the short list posted above.
