Dwyane Wade: Chris Bosh Was Most Consistent HEAT Player in Playoffs

Dwyane Wade said Chris Bosh was the most consistent HEAT star in the 2011 playoffs while talking to reporters and analysts at the release of his new Fly Wade sneaker.

Here's the quote of Wade reported by the Miami Herald's Israel Gutierrez:
"I thought he did great (in last season's playoffs). I don’t think he got enough credit for it. Chris played very consistent. In each round, I think he got better." I think he was the most consistent out of all of us, if you want to say it. I had a terrible Chicago series. LeBron didn’t have a so-hot Dallas series. I think he’s going to be play better this season."

Let's run a quick HEAT Check on Wade's assertion by reviewing the Estimated Wins Produced per 48 minutes (Est.WP48) by Bosh, Wade and LeBron James in the playoffs. An average player produces 0.100 Est.WP48 and a star player produces 0.200 Est.WP48.

Summary
Bosh produced 0.196, 0.225, 0.237 and 0.010 Est.WP48 in four playoff series. He averaged 0.160 Est.WP48 for the playoffs and produced an estimated 2.8 wins. Those numbers ranked third on the HEAT.

Wade produced 0.254, 0.270, 0.128 and 0.278 Est.WP48 in four playoff series. He averaged 0.234 Est.WP48 for the playoffs and produced an estimated 4 wins. Those numbers ranked first on the HEAT.

LeBron produced 0.276, 0.197, 0.221 and 0.097 Est.WP48 in four playoff series. He averaged 0.192 Est.WP48 for the playoffs and produced an estimated 3.7 wins. Those numbers ranked second on the HEAT.

Bosh's production improved every round of the playoffs until they fell off a cliff in the Finals when the HEAT needed it most. It's a little understandable that Wade would say he was the most consistent because Bosh still managed to score in the Finals, but his production was below average in every non-scoring aspect of the game except passing and fouling.

LeBron's production was up and down in the playoffs. He wasn't the most consistent, but he also was much more productive than Bosh in the Finals.

The only pothole in Wade's production was the Eastern Conference Finals and he still managed to perform above average because he's so much better than the Bulls' shooting guards. We're always our own worst critics and Wade was being too hard on himself. He was the most consistent HEAT player in the 2011 playoffs.

Too bad Brian Cardinal's thuggery cost him a Finals MVP trophy.
