There’s a problem with the Heat Shit List. No, it’s not a lack of updates (although that is a problem, please be patient until October). Surya Fernandez, Managing Editor of Hot Hot Hoops, tweeted the following information last week: Erik Spoelstra’s dad asked Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to write the foreword of his book, Marketing Outrageously Redux: How to Increase Your Revenue by Staggering Amounts!
So, what’s the problem?
Cuban revealed in the foreword that the book is required reading for every Mavs employee and the Mavs regularly email Spo’s dad to bounce their ideas off him. My mind is racing with the implications of that sentence...
Was Spo’s dad consulting with Cuban while the Mavs owner was talking shit about his son’s team struggling on sports talk radio? Did Spo’s dad congratulate Cuban after they won the title? Hell, did he stop by Club Liv and celebrate with the Mavs while his son sat in silence with Pat Riley after Game 6 of the Finals?
OK, I’m calming down...
Looking at this rationally, the first edition of the book was published in 2001. Perhaps the Heat Shit List should let bygones be bygones. On the other hand, the paperback edition was published December 2010 when the Heat only lost one game and the haters had to choke on their success.
Consulting with Cuban, though? Isn’t that a major violation?
Then again, perhaps this whole article is just an overreaction to the Heat losing to the Mavs in the Finals. What do you think Heat fans? Should Spo’s dad be put on the Heat Shit List for consulting with Cuban?
UPDATE: Place your vote in this poll at Bleacher Report.
Cuban also said in the foreword that the Mavs put the fluffiest towels in the NBA in both the home and visitors locker rooms and visiting players take them home with them all the time. If you find out about a Heat player with a fluffy Mavs towel, then put them on the Heat Shit List immediately! I don't care if it's Erick Dampier, put them on the Heat Shit List by sending a tweet with the hashtag #HeatShitList to @MIA_Heat_Index or leaving a comment on the blog.
