Chris Bosh: Stretch Five Killing 'Em Softly

Chris Bosh led the HEAT in scoring vs. the Nets last night (which is unusual), but how he scored was still business as usual.

Bosh scored 24 points with 43% of his shots in the paint and 21% of his shots from three-point land. Bosh gets 39% of his points in the paint this season and 19% of his shots come from three, on average (see stats.nba.com).

According to stats.nba.com, only 23 players classified as centers average 30 minutes per game or more this season. Of those 23 players, Bosh ranks 2nd to last in percentage of scoring from points in the paint (see image below).

Despite getting fewer points in the paints than every big man getting major minutes except Kevin Love, Bosh still gets more points at the free throw line than 8 other big men who score more points in the paint: Al Horford, Serge Ibaka, Spencer Hawes, Al Jefferson, Andre Drummond, Nikola Vucevic, Marcin Gortat and Pau Gasol.

Last night was no different against the Nets, as Bosh got 17% of his points from the free throw line. He gets 18% of his points from the free throw line, on average, this season.

The image below ranks big men by the percentage of points they get from the three-point line. Bosh was above average from 3 last night, with 25% of his points coming from beyond the arc.
