Will Steph Curry follow the example set by Chris Mullin 22 years ago in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs tonight?
The only time a player ever murdered an NBA team on their own shit in Game 2 of a Conference Semifinal in the last 50 years was 1991 when Mullin bodied the Lakers at the Great Western Forum by scoring 41 points with 86% shooting efficiency for a 125-124 win.
Mullin's homicidal shooting ended the Warriors' 22-year playoff losing streak to the Lakers despite Magic Johnson scoring a playoff career-high 44 points and falling short of a triple-double with 12 rebounds and 9 assists. Ironically, Mullin's big game in the Western Semis came after his Run TMC crew ran the #2 seed Spurs out of the playoffs in the first round.
Can Curry follow-up his 44-point, 11-assist performance in Game 1 with another 40-point effort to end the Warriors' 29-game losing streak in San Antonio? Most definitely. A 2nd 40-point game on the road, in a Game 2, 22 years after another Golden State Warrior did it? The stars seem to be aligning for a special night.
The haters that think he can't do it only get half a bar...
