Before Game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers, LeBron James said it was time for the Miami Heat to "finish their breakfast" and advance to the next round of the playoffs. Well, they did just that with a 97-91 win in Miami.

Let’s recap Game 5 as well as the series’ Most Valuable Player, Best Reserve, Best Coach and all of the wins produced stats.

Heat Produced: Chris Bosh vs. Elton Brand, A Tale of Two Cities

I promised statistical notes in the post-game podcast for Game Four that would provide some insight into why the Miami Heat lost their chance to sweep the Philadelphia 76ers and this post will attempt to do that.

The last article reported the series has been a tale of two quarters, but this article will focus on the matchup between Chris Bosh and Elton Brand because that's where Game Four was lost and their matchup has been a tale of two cities.

Heat Produced: Alpha and Omega in the City of Brotherly Love

As Couper Moorhead stated in his game recap on HEAT.com, the problem for the Miami Heat in Game Four was the start and the finish. The game started with a 17-2 run by the Philadelphia 76ers and ended with a 10-0 run by the Sixers that cost the Heat the game.

According to Moorhead, "Spoelstra pointed out that Miami’s slow starts are more than a trend at this point and that they must be remedied."

Let's take a look at the numbers for the Heat at the beginning and end of their games with the 76ers to identify the problems.

At the request of reader Giovanni Valladares, the production of the NBA reserves is something that's been reported on this blog a few times during the season. Now seems like a good time for a final report since the top reserve has been named.

The last slide lists some new stats from the season series with the Philadelphia 76ers. Consider that a brief playoff preview. Enjoy.

Off the Index: Denver Nuggets Defense Is Solid but Coach of the Year Is Fools' Gold

I've been preoccupied the last two days by an issue raised during a lengthy email discussion on the Wages of Wins Network. The topic? The Denver Nuggets' defense.

Why was a Miami Heat blogger preoccupied with the Nuggets defense?
